This project presents an innovative solution aimed at addressing the medication management challenges faced by the aging population in Rwanda through the development of an IoT-based Pill Reminder and Dispenser System. As Rwanda experiences a demographic shift with an increasing elderly population, effective medication adherence has become crucial to enhancing health outcomes and reducing complications. The proposed system integrates interconnected devices embedded with sensors and software that facilitate real-time monitoring and notification of medication schedules.
Key features include a user-friendly web application for setting medication schedules, a pill dispenser equipped with mechanisms for accurate dosage, and multi-channel alerts—such as audio reminders, visual notifications, and SMS alerts—ensuring users are prompted to take their medications on time. By incorporating data logging and adherence tracking, caregivers and healthcare professionals can monitor user compliance, thereby optimizing medication management.
This project aims to empower elderly individuals to manage their health more effectively, improving their quality of life and independence.
