Password based Circuit Breaker using microcontroller - arduino - STS Project Implementation

The Password-Based Circuit Breaker is an innovative and safety-oriented electrical switch system designed to protect electrical circuits from damage due to overload or short circuits. Unlike traditional fuses that need replacement after a single use, this circuit breaker can be reset either manually or automatically to resume normal operation. A key enhancement of this system is its integration of password protection to prevent unauthorized access, thereby reducing the risk of fatal electrical accidents, particularly during maintenance work.

The system operates on an 8-bit microcontroller from the 16f877A family, with the password stored in an EEPROM, allowing for easy modification and enhancing security. A keypad interface is used for password entry, while a relay mechanism controls the opening and closing of the circuit breaker, indicated by a lamp. Incorrect password attempts trigger an alert, indicated by a separate lamp, ensuring immediate notification of unauthorized access attempts.

This sophisticated control mechanism ensures that only authorized personnel can operate the circuit breaker, thereby enhancing safety and preventing accidents due to miscommunication or lack of coordination between maintenance and substation staff. The system's design incorporates essential electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, voltage regulators, and rectifiers, making it a reliable and efficient solution for modern electrical circuit protection.

Components: Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes, Transistors, Voltage Regulator, Rectifier, Microcontroller, EEPROM, Relay, Relay Driver, Keypad, Password Protection, Electrical Safety.
