Water tank quality and level monitoring system

All humans need water to survive; some of the uses of water include drinking, cooking, cleaning, and hygienic needs. Sometimes water shortages due to climate change or prolonged sunny weather, water pipeline breakdowns, poorly functioning water treatment facilities, and increased water demand in various areas occur in regions of underdeveloped countries. These factors have a negative impact on processes that require constant access to water and frequently result in failures to produce results on schedule. That is why it is vital to maintain and monitor the tanks' water levels.

This research project is implementing a solution (hardware, software, and communications) based on an IoT monitoring system to maintain monitoring water tanks in the region. The system that communicates the status of water tanks in terms of water level, water quality by monitoring acidity, basicity, and dust in water tanks, and making notifications by indicating tank locations. Ultrasonic sensor, Turbidity, TDS (total dissolved solids), and pH are examples of sensory components.

The design prototype uses an Arduino Uno microcontroller to process data from sensors, and a SIM808 GSM/GPRS/GPS sensor to transfer the processed data to the cloud-based ThingSpeak program, which stores and analyzes the data. The system shows its efficacy in granting access to water to a variety of persons and purposes based on the methodology used, data study, and analysis.
